EMS Media Awards 2024: nominations until 25 May

Exchange on how to improve communication of meteorological and climatological information between developers, users, stake holders and decision makers, and to the general public has been one of the central objectives of the EMS since its foundation in 1999. The EMS Media Awards were established to highlight outstanding achievements and examples of good practice.

This year The EMS Communicating Weather & Climate Award is announced for the first time.  The aim is to honour outstanding and long-term communication activity by an individual in the field of meteorology/climatology in any media outlet, or combination of outlets, including radio, television, film, newspaper, magazine, social media, and online. This new award replaces the former EMS Broadcast Meteorologist Award and EMS Media Weather Forecast Award.

The EMS invites submissions for the following Media Awards:

• EMS Outreach & Communication Award
• EMS Communicating Weather & Climate Award (new award)
• EMS Journalistic Award

The awards will be presented at the EMS Annual Meeting 2024 in Barcelona, 2 – 6 September 2024.

The submission deadline for all three awards is to 25 May 2024.
