Celebrating the 100-year anniversary of the Swiss Society for Meteorology (SGM) , the society has published a book on the development of atmospheric and climate sciences in Switzerland and SGM.
The Joint Congress aims to show, discuss and disseminate the contributions of the international scientific community on different aspects of the meteorology and the climatology of the Mediterranean Basin and foster communication between different research groups.

The Arctic warms faster than the rest of the world. This effect is only poorly understood, i.e. models do not reproduce this strong warming of the Arctic atmosphere. This effect is called the Arctic Amplification. The project AC3 aims at filling the gaps in understanding the special dynamics of the Arctic, in particular to find the missing ingredients causing this enhanced warming.

Riming is an effcient process to convert cloud water into precipitation water, and frequently occurs in mountainous regions. This PhD project aims to better understand how riming occurs at the local and regional scales in snowfall in mountainous terrain, using in particular measurements from an X-band Doppler dual-polarization radar.

Max Planck Institute for Meteorology (MPI-M), Hamburg, Germany
The applicant will be part of the Max Planck Research Group “Turbulence Mixing Processes in the Earth System”. The aim of the research is to advance the understanding and parametrization of small-scale turbulence in the planetary boundary layer and its coupling to large-scale dynamics. MPI-M is seeking one post-doc to further develop his/her career along these lines.
The Max Planck Institute for Meteorology is pleased to announce the 4th International Conference on Earth System Modelling (4ICESM). The 4ICESM will take place from 28 August - 1 September 2017 in Hamburg, Germany,
with the objective of advancing discourse on idealizations and model hierarchies of the Earth System as tools for understanding our changing climate.
The Research Centre Jülich, Germany, in collaboration with the Universities of Cologne and Wuppertal, now offers its annual Intensive Course "Atmospheric Chemistry and Dynamics" for 2016.
This is a 1 week introductory course with lectures and exercises, taylored for PhD students, master students and postdocs with background in chemistry, (geo)physics, meteorology, geo-ecology and related topics, who place their focus on atmospheric research.

University of Chicago, USA
The Department of the Geophysical Sciences at The University of Chicago seeks to hire a postdoctoral researcher to support investigations of the past Mars climate and atmosphere. The successful candidate will work with Assistant Professor Edwin Kite to modify and run Mars mesoscale models and Mars global climate models, and analyze the output of those models.
