2nd World Symposium on Climate Change Communication

The 2nd World Symposium on Climate Change Communication will focus on addressing the challenges in communicating climate change across various audiences, hence providing a platform for reflections on climate change communication research and practice. The symposium will also offer a concrete contribution towards a better understanding and in catalysing further action to better communicate climate change.
Deadline for submission of abstracts: 30 July 2017

ECMWF: Scientist- Diurnal cycle in the ocean

Closing date: 08 June 2017
ECMWF, Shinfield Park, Reading, UK
The aim is to diagnose the amplitude and phase of the diurnal cycle in surface and sub-surface ocean temperature of the ECMWF coupled Earth system model. The research will contribute to diurnal cycle ocean diagnostics studies with perspective of participation in workshops involving the oceanographic and numerical weather prediction community.

Post-doctoral position: Assimilation of satellite data for the analysis of atmospheric O3 and CO

Closing date: 01 June 2017
cerfacs, Toulouse, France
The successful candidate will contribute to French and European projects on aspects concerning the assimilation of Level 2 products from new type of instruments and the assimilation of radiances (Level 1 data) from already operational platforms (GOME2, IASI). The candidate will evaluate benefits of current and future instruments for re-analyses and forecasts of atmospheric composition over Europe.

Postdoc position: Carbon Isotopes in the Community Earth System Model

Closing date: not specified
University of Bern, Bern, Switzerland
Uni Bern offers the opportunity to further develop and apply the Community Earth System Model (CESM) to study carbon isotope variations over the industrial period and the next century. A second research focus is the analysis of coupled climate-carbon cycle simulations for the last millennia or for step-like forcing changes.

PhD position: Modeling terrestrial methane emissions and climate

Closing date: not specified
University of Bern, Bern, Switzerland
Uni Bern offers the opportunity to further develop and apply the LPX-Bern Dynamic Global Vegetation Model. Variations in the greenhouse gas methane (CH4) are investigated over glacial-interglacial periods and during abrupt climate events for improved climate projections. The objective is to understand mechanisms of past and future CH4 changes as constrained by ice core data measured by the division.
