PhD on modeling the Future Greenland Ice Sheet coupled to the Climate System with CESM-CISM

Violetter Blitz

Closing date: 23 October 2016
Delft University of Technology, Delft, The Netherlands

The PhD candidate will design and perform simulations with the ice sheet and climate models, will modify the code where appropriate for specific research targets, and will analyze model output and available observations. He/she will evaluate the sensitivity of the GrIS to atmospheric and/or ocean forcing, will quantify the role of feedbacks in accelerating/decelerating GrIS mass loss, and will contribute to assess the timing and climatic impacts of Greenland deglaciation.

Postdoctoral Position in Climate and Climate Impact Modeling

Violetter Blitz

Closing date: 12 October 2016
City University of New York Institute for Sustainable Cities, Kingston, New York, USA

The New York City Department of Environmental Protection (NYCDEP) uses terrestrial and reservoir simulation models to investigate the potential effects of climate change on the NYC water supply. To evaluate climate change, these models require forecasts of future meteorological conditions in the reservoir watersheds. Work will involve collaborative efforts with an interdisciplinary team of scientists, and will also provide opportunities for leadership in specific aspects of the research.
