Summer School – Towards exascale computing for numerical weather prediction

In the framework of the Horizon 2020 ESCAPE-2 project and together with Fondazione Alessandro Volta, Politecnico di Milano is organising a summer school on exascale computing for numerical weather prediction.

The school is aimed at graduate students and postdocs and scheduled to take place online from 19-23 July 2021.

The schedule features theoretical and practical sessions on numerical algorithms, uncertainty quantification models, and high-performance computing tools used in research and operational NWP.

The school aims to introduce students to computational tools currently used in operations and research on weather forecast models, including numerical algorithms, uncertainty quantification models, and high-performance computing tools. Theoretical lectures will be complemented by hands-on training where the students will develop small group projects using the techniques presented in the course.

There are no registration fees but the number of participants is limited to 25.

The application deadline has expired.
