5th ICTP Summer School

Theme of the 5th Summer School on Theory, Mechanisms and Hierarchical Modelling of Climate Dynamics: Convection and Clouds.

PIMS is co-sponsoring the meeting and there are travel grants available for PhD students and junior scientists to attend, with priority given to applicants from the global south and PIMS member institutes. Please see details on the event and how to register here

• Week 1: Introduction to convection, radiation, radiative-convective equilibrium, observations, stochastic/classical parameterization,
• Week 2: Stochastic cloud models/machine learning. WCO4 conference.
• Week 3: Specialist lectures and hands-on projects.

Note that all participants will have the opportunity to attend the WCO4 conference on convective aggregation, embedded in the middle week of the school.
