ASR-CAMS coverContributions in the Pandemic Year 2020

It is possible to submit contributions on applied meteorology and climatology to the open access journal Advances in Science and Research (ASR) published by Copernicus – despite the cancellation of the EMS Annual Meeting in 2020. Submission is now open, and will close on 15 January 2021.

ASR is included in all major data bases, including SCOPUS. For more details see ASR indexed in Scopus.

Note that Copernicus now offers the option to publish your video abstract and video supplements in a reliable repository when submitting a manuscript for publication in ASR. Authors are encouraged to make use of this facility to showcase their research activities to a wider audience. For more information go to

Page charges waiver for Early Career Scientists

As a new initiative, the EMS will cover the charges for four pages of two articles submitted by early-career scientists for the 2020 ASR volume 18. This scheme is open to lead authors who satisfy the same requirements as apply to the EMS Young Scientists Travel Awards (i.e. someone under 35 years of age on the first of January 2021, working and/or studying in a European country). The deadline for applications is 15 November 2020, 13:00 CET.

How to apply: Send an application letter that includes the submission number and is accompanied by the pdf of the submitted manuscript to ems-sec .at. emetsoc.org, no later than 15 November 2020, 13:00 CET.

Applicants need to include a statement that they have tried and failed to access funds to cover the page charges. If more than two applications are received, the EMS Bureau will make a decision on the selection, taking into account the views of the editors for the relevant topic.
