Dear readers, the first hybrid EMS Annual Meerting 2022 in Bonn is over; read about the events that took place in the week and how participants have appreciated all the opportunities: This was EMS2022.

In Bonn, also the EMS Council and General Assembly met for the first time in three years at an in-person/hybrid gathering, and discussed the challenges in the coming years. Read about decisions and discussions.

Harry-Otten-Prize 2023

The Harry-Otten-Prize encourages proposals of ideas how meteorology can create benefit for society. Submissions until 10 March 2023

Call for nominations 2023

Optional deadline for short proposals is 15 Dec 2022 and final submission of full proposal is expected until by 31 Jan 2023.

A big Thank You to all for attending this first hybrid EMS Annual Meeting; we were enthralled to see so many from our communities back and welcome many early career scientists attending for the first time: 815 participants, onsite and online, from 48 countries attended he event.

In 2021 the Meteorological Societies in Africa have established a permanent organization called African Meteorological Society (AfMS) for their cooperation to build capacity in Africa.
