November 2023

Dear readers,

another successful EMS Annual Meeting lies behind us and we were grateful to the warm welcome the hosts provided. Find impresssions (photos) and interesting information about the meeting in two of the items below.

Looking into the future, the EMS General Assembly discussed whether the EMS should make a pledge to the Society's operations becoming net-zero. The overwhelming answer was Yes! Challenges - and opportunities - have been discussed at the meeting; for a summary have a look at the minutes.

In connection with this, two other items may be of interest to you: the interview with Rasmus Bendestad about his 28-hour journey to the EMS2023 from Oslo; and the next EMS Annual Meeting that will focus on The role of weather and climate research in the achievement of a climate-neutral Europe.

We were happy to award that many outstanding people at the EMS meeting in Bratislava. The first calls for 2024 awards are coming out in the next couple of weeks. For now, proposals for the EMS Technology Achievement award are invited. Please spread the word and study the call below.

Have an interesting read of the ems-message.
