The Slovak Meteorological Society has elected Paulina Valova as new president

The Slovak Meteorological Society held its General Assembly in September 2017 and elected a new committee; the new president is Paulina Valova of the Slovak Hydrometeorological Institute (SHMI) in Bratislava.

Paulina Valova graduated in 1990 at the Comenium University Bratislava, Faculty of Mathematics and Physics, Meteorology and Climatology and started her career at the Department of Meteorological Security of Nuclear Power Plants of SHMI. In 2002 she moved to the SHMI Department of Meteorological Forecasts and Warnings in Bratislava where she still works.

With the new SMS committee, the society is initiating new activities and is looking forward to close collaboration with the EMS. The EMS Annual Meeting is planned to be hosted in Bratislava in 2020.
