Firmly established on the international calendar as it enters its 7th year, the Royal Meteorological Society’s Weather Photographer of the Year, in association with AccuWeather, is back and will be open for entries from Tuesday 26 April – Tuesday 28 June.

It is free to enter and open to photographers, professional and amateur, of all ages and abilities. It doesn’t matter where you are or what you are doing, there will always be weather, and that can lend itself to some inspiring photo opportunities, whether you’re at the coast, up a mountain, in a desert or in your back garden.

This year the competition has moved to a new platform available at www.zealous.co/rmets. The youth category is being supported this year by The Week Junior Science+Nature, as a media partner and no longer has a minimum age limit. It is open to anyone under 18, provided a responsible adult submits the entry.

For the first time this year, the judges will also combine shortlisted entries across both the main and mobile phone categories to form the public vote in August and September.

The winners of ‘Weather Photographer of the Year 2022’, ‘Young Weather Photographer of the Year 2022’ and the ‘Mobile Phone – Weather Photographer of the Year 2022’ will be announced via a social media live stream on 6 October 2022.
