Tarja Riihisaari
Tarja Riihisaari is the Director of the Observation and Information System Centre, FMI Finnish Meteorological Institute.
Tarja Riihisaari has a background in technical research and management. She obtained the MSc. in Electronics with Physics at Turku University, Finland, in 1993, and worked both in the microelectronics industry and research before joining Finnish Meteorological Institute in 2001.
She has almost 20 years of experience in project management; including also large international programmes, such as EUMETSAT and SESAR. She has been the Finnish Meteorological Institute’s (FMI) representative in EUMETNET STAC starting 2010.
At FMI, she has been working as the head of the Remote Sensing group (2001-2006), the head of the Development and Services Unit (2008-2017), which involved leading the implementation of the open data platform and procedures at FMI, and since the beginning of 2018, as the Director of the Observation and Information System Centre.
Committee member since 2018.
