Tarja Riihisaari is the Director of the Observation and Information System Centre, FMI Finnish Meteorological Institute.
Tarja Riihisaari has a background in technical research and management. She obtained the Licentiate of Philosophy from Electronics and Communication Technology in Physics at Turku University, Finland in 2002. Since then, she has been working in both industry and research.
She has almost 20 years of experience in project management; including also large international programmes, such as EUMETSAT and SESAR. She is the Finnish Meteorological Institute’s (FMI) representative in EUMETNET STAC.
At FMI, she has been working as the head of the Remote Sensing group (2001-2006), the head of the Development and Services Unit (2008-2017), which involved leading the implementation of the open data platform and procedures at FMI, and since the beginning of 2018, as the Director of the Observation and Information System Centre.
