Outstanding Poster Award EMS2024

The EMS 2024 outstanding poster award winner is Albert Aparicio Garcia with a poster presenting the work by him and his colleagues: Anna Rius, Laura Barbería, Anna Miró, Juan Carlos Peña, and Adrián Ruiz from the Meteorological Service of Catalonia (SMC), Barcelona, Spain and the University of Barcelona.

The committee has unanimously selected the poster ‘Enhancing meteorological report access and response time: How the Meteorological Service of Catalonia addresses the rise in weather-related claims’.

“The eye-catching style of this poster strongly meets impact and innovation criteria for the poster award. The committee appreciated the novel, intuitive approach this service offers via a web-based application. This draws on a range of observations to automatically synthesize complex weather data into a simple response for users. In particular, the committee valued the societal value this service offers for weather-related insurance claim requests.”

The winner was announced during the closing ceremony of the EMS2024 on Friday 6 September in Barcelona. The prize includes one registration fee waiver for the EMS Annual Meeting 2025 in Ljubljana, where the winnng poster will also be on display.
