Postdoctoral Researcher – UPFLO: Improving understanding and modelling of convective UPdraFts and anvil cLOuds

The University of Reading seeks highly motivated candidates for a 42-month postdoctoral fellowship position.  The position holder will undertake research into convective updrafts and their interactions with anvil cloud processes and larger scales, including how can we improve the representation of these processes in global km-scale models. The role will also involve using new observation products from the EarthCARE satellite mission and the upcoming INCUS satellite mission to evaluate updrafts and anvil cloud properties in global km-scale atmospheric models.  This project will be carried out in close collaboration with the European Centre for Medium-Range Forecasts (ECMWF), the Met Office, the National Centre for Atmospheric Science (NCAS), and Colorado State University.
