Postdoctoral Research Fellow with Environment and Climate Change Canada

Environment and Climate Change Canada, Toronto, Canada
Closing date: 28 February 2019

A Postdoctoral Research Fellow position is available in the Climate Research Division (CRD) of Environment and Climate Change Canada. CRD is seeking a highly qualified individual to undertake research on the analysis of precipitation and other climate data. Research will be performed under the supervision of Dr. Xiaolan Wang and in close collaboration with scientists in CRD and other national institutions.

Specific objectives of the position will include research on (1) integrating/blending the in situ data with satellite precipitation estimates to generate robust, representative gridded precipitation datasets on various time scales (monthly, pentad, daily) for Canada; (2) analyzing the resulting datasets to characterize Canada’s precipitation climate and changes therein and (3) using them to downscale climate model projections of precipitation. The work will involve manipulation of large volumes of observed and climate model data and data quality control, as well as development and use of advanced statistical and mathematical methods to analyze data.
