The Institute of Meteorology and Climatology invites applications for the position of a Research Assistant (doctoral candidate) to be appointed the earliest possible date. The position is limited to three years and is equivalent to 75 % of standard working time and includes the opportunity of graduating with a doctoral degree.
Scope of work
- Contribution to the project „Large-eddy simulation study on the effect of vehicle induced turbulence and exhaust fumes on wind flow and pollutant dispersion in urban street canyons“
- Designing and performing large-eddy simulations (LES) with the PALM model system
- Analysis of large-eddy simulation data and comparing with experimental data
The Institute is looking for a motivated and proactive candidate with a master university degree in the fields of Meteorology, Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), or similar background with excellent knowledge in CFD and the LES technique. Profound knowledge in boundary-layer meteorology and Fortran programming language are beneficial. Very good communication skills in English language, both oral and written are essential for this position.
