Boundary Layer Meteorologist Research Scientist

The Cooperative Institute for Research in Environmental Sciences (CIRES) in Boulder, Colorado is seeking a post-doctoral or early career research scientist to work at the NOAA Earth System Research Laboratory (ESRL) with its Physical Sciences Division (PSD) Boundary Layer Observations and Processes team. The chosen candidate will:

  • Collect and analyze atmospheric boundary layer observational data sets.
  • Develop new methods for integrating multiple remote sensing and in-situ instrumentation systems to extract useful meteorological information.
  • Use observations to improve our understanding of boundary layer dynamical processes.
  • Use observations to evaluate numerical weather prediction models.

The chosen candidate will be expected to become a leader in boundary layer research, pursuing research questions of particular relevance to NOAA’s mission. Candidates should have excellent communication skills and be very comfortable working in a team environment.

These positions will be located in Boulder, Colorado, with an office at the NOAA Earth System Research Lab (ESRL), Physical Sciences Division (PSD).
