Profile

The main areas of activities of Meteotechnology Laboratory LLC (MeteoLab) are the development of sensor networks for local weather and air quality monitoring, as well as research on atmospheric aerosols.

MeteoLab was founded in 2010 as part of Russian State Hydrometeorological University (St.Petersburg, Russia). Laboratory staff has published more than 100 scientific papers and participated in scientific events, including scientific presentations at EMS Annual Meetings.

In 2018 the laboratory became an independent company. Now, the laboratory is a partner of Technopark of St. Petersburg under the Smart Safe Quarter initiative in the field of air quality monitoring.

The research interests of Meteotechnology Laboratory LLC (MeteoLab) are the physics of aerosols and clouds, climate change and decentralized systems. Practical developments are related to the weather modification and the creation of atmospheric monitoring systems, in particular, the air quality monitoring system of the Smart City.

As part of the dissemination of advanced technologies, the educational project “Digital Meteorology” is being implemented, aimed at the implementation of meteorological projects by students using the Internet of Things technology. Employees of the company have experience of participation in international scientific, practical and educational projects in the field of IT and meteorology. The continuity of the three components of the activity is reflected in the company’s motto: “Science, Technology, Education”.
