La Météorologie Celebrates 100 Years of Climate and Weather Insight

In 2025, the journal La Météorologie marks a century of scientific reporting and climate observation. Founded in 1925 by the Société Météorologique de France—now the association Météo et Climat—the quarterly journal has grown alongside major scientific advances and rising societal concerns about climate change.
Today, the publication remains the only French-language journal dedicated to meteorology and climate sciences, reaching readers in 30 countries. Its audience now extends far beyond researchers, attracting professionals, teachers, students, and weather enthusiasts.
Each article undergoes rigorous double peer review, ensuring the scientific reliability of content spanning meteorology, climatology, oceanography, glaciology, hydrology, and environmental impacts.
The centenary issue pays tribute to Gustave Eiffel, who presided over the Société Météorologique de France in 1910 and contributed significantly to early atmospheric studies.
Supported by Météo-France and the CNRS, La Météorologie continues its mission: making atmospheric and climate science accessible to all in an era of rapid environmental change.
