Job Description: General Secretary of PRIMET
The Pan-European Professional Trade Association for the Private Sector in Weather Services
Location: Europe (Remote/Travel as required)
Reports to: Board of Directors
Job Purpose: The PRIMET General Secretary is responsible for the efficient administration of the Association, ensuring compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements and implementing decisions made by the Board of Directors. The role involves managing the membership database and finances, communicating with Members, maintaining the Association website, organizing meetings and liaising with international stakeholders.
PRIMET Ltd is a legal entity registered as a company limited by guarantee at UK Companies House.
Key Responsibilities
International
- Attend and represent the Association in international forums such as WMO, AMS, and EMS.
- Liaise with EUMETNET and report to the Board of Directors.
- Draft agendas and organize sessions for PRIMET-EUMETMET meetings.
- Organise PRIMET participation at international conferences and other events.
Membership
- Attend Board meetings and provide administrative support.
- Manage the PRIMET membership database and invoice annual subscriptions.
- Communicate with individual Members and collate opinions and issues for further discussion.
- Ensure compliance with relevant EU and UK regulations.
- Manage the finances of the Association and maintain the bank account.
- Prepare the General Secretary’s report and Finance report for the Annual General Meeting.
- Maintain the Association’s website and update content as required.
Person Specification
Qualifications and Experience
- Excellent knowledge of meteorological and climate science and its applications..
- Understanding of the scope of the weather enterprise and its public/private sectors.
- Previous professional experience in public and/or private sector weather services.
- Proficiency in written and spoken English.
- Experience of participation in international forums.
- Strong communication skills and ability to liaise with stakeholders and build relationships.

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proactive and able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

Working Regime
- This is a part time role requiring about 24 hours per month.
- The majority of the work can be carried out at home/online.
- Variations in time commitment may occur due to travel and meetings etc.
- Rolling 6-month contract.
- Remuneration by agreed day rate.
- Travel and other expenses are paid by the Association.
