EMS Speed Networking 2026: Call for Mentors
The Speed Networking Event for Early Career Scientists at EMS2025 in Ljubljana was highly appreciated by those who attended the event. Therefore, we would like to offer such an opportunity again at the EMS2026 in Utrecht.
We are seeking professionals from across meteorology, climate science, and related fields
We are seeking professionals from across meteorology, climate science, and related fields to share their experiences by being a mentor at the second EMS Early Career Scientists Speed Networking event at EMS2026 in Utrecht. This event provides a valuable opportunity to support the next generation of professionals by sharing insights on career paths, professional development, and opportunities within the atmospheric and climate science community.
The format is simple
Each professional “mentor” will be seated at a table and groups of “mentorees” will change tables every 20 minutes to meet different mentors. A small apéro will be organised after the structured Speed Networking session to allow for conversations to continue and to meet more professionals and Early Career Scientists!
We are looking for mentors from organisations, companies, and institutions across the meteorological, climate and related fields community to volunteer for as well as recommend other mentors for this event. Mentors will be asked to:
- share real-world experiences – successes and challenges alike
- answer questions and offer practical advice
- inspire and encourage emerging professionals in the field
- advertise potential job opportunities
Mentors are warmly welcome from across academia, operational services, the private sector, policy environments and beyond. Your contribution can make a meaningful difference in helping upcoming scientists build confidence, expand their networks, and better understand the range of careers available to them.
