In 2021 the International Society of Biometeorology (ISB) and the EMS signed an agreement to further develop their collaboration, based on their shared vision of advancing meteorology, and in particular biometeorology for the benefit of societies within Europe and elsewhere. The agreement was valid for 5 years, and both organisations decided that the fruitful collaboration should continue and be developed into the future.

At the fringe of the EMS2026 in Utrecht, EMS President Liz Bentley and ISB President Tanja Cegnar signed a letter to extend the agreement for another five years. The renewed MoU ensures that both societies will continue to coordinate their main conferences to prevent scheduling overlaps and ensure members of both societies benefit from both, the EMS Annual Meetings and the International Congress of Biometeorology (ICB).

The ISB this year celebrates its 70-year anniversary.
