ECS Speed Networking: Call for mentors
EMS plans a Speed Networking for Early Career Scientists at the EMS2025 in Ljubljana.
We are looking for professionals in meteorology, climate, and related fields to join our first ever EMS Speed Networking for Early Career Scientists event and share your insights with the next generation of scientists!
This is a unique opportunity to support Early Career Scientists by offering an honest, open look into your career journey, field of expertise, and the opportunities that exist in your area of expertise, or specifically in the company/institution you work for.
The Speed Networking for Early Career Scientists is a fun and fast-paced session designed to make connections and learn from experienced professionals in meteorology, climate, and related fields. The format is simple: each professional “mentor” will be seated at a table and groups of “mentorees” will change tables every 20 minutes to meet different mentors.
A small apéro will be organised after the structured Speed Networking session to allow for conversations to continue and meet more professionals and Early Career Scientists!
We are asking companies and institutions across the meteorological community to recommend mentors for this event. The mentors will be asked to:
- share real-world experiences – successes and challenges alike
- answer questions and offer practical advice
- inspire and encourage emerging professionals in the field
- advertise potential job opportunities
Want to contribute? – then apply by sending us two paragraphs including (1) a short description of your company/institution, how it is involved in the topic of meteorology/climate and what it would add to the event and (2) who would be designated as a mentor. The organisers of the event will select all relevant applications.
Responses would be appreciated by 30 April 2025 at ems-annual@emetsoc.org.
We look forward to receive your application for the Speed Networking for Early Career Scientists event at EMS2025!
The event organising team: Alice Portal, Becky Hemingway, Victoria Sinclair and Martina Junge.
