We hope you had a good start into the new year and wish you all the best for your plans.

As EMS we have an exciting year ahead of us, celebrating the 25-year anniversary of the organisation, with the activities we plan culminating at the Annual Meeting in Barcelona in September. Speaking of which, you still have the chance to contribute to the width of the programme by submitting a session proposal, deadline is this coming Monday, 15 January 2024.

Also, submission for the Europhotometeo 2024  closes on 15 January 2024. We look forward to receive many stunning photos of clouds and other meteorological phenomena.

At the end of January the calls for nominations for the two most prestigeous EMS awards will close: the EMS Silver Medal and the EMS Technology Achievement Award.

Advance announcement: This month we will start the EMS Webinar series with a broad spectrum of topics. Our first speaker will be past-President Bert Holtslag talking about "Understanding the atmosphere of Starry Night". Stay tuned, details about the series and programme will be announced in the next ems-message, and of course on emetsoc.org.
