Dear readers, after the summer break we will immediately dive into the major activities of the EMS: Council will meet for its 51st session and the 25th General Assembly will discuss how we will celebrate the 25-year anniversary of the EMS in 2024.

Bratislava will be the place were the weather, water, climate community will meet to disccuss the mechanisms as well as societal reactions to drounghts in Europe. The EMS2023 full programme is out now. This will also be a great opportunity to honour outstanding scientists and communicators and their achievements and recognize contributions of talented young scientists; selected winners of the Journalistic Award, the Young Scientist Award and the Sergej Zilitinkevich Memorial Award are highlighted in this newsletter.

This year will also see another edition of the Harry Otten Prize competition with three finalists presenting their innovative ideas right on Monday moring at the start of the conference. Be there ... and don't miss:
