Dear readers, though this is summer time and many of you are hopefully still enjoying a break, we work hard to prepare for the hybrid EMS2022 in Bonn in September. With many new sessions the convenors have organised a highly interesting programme, addressing the challenges we face as a community and as societies.

We will also use the opportunity in Bonn to hold the first in-person awards ceremony since 2019. We are delighted to welcome all the awardees in Bonn. Read more about awardees in the items below, and browse the spotlight on awardees.

The opening Monday morning will fully be dedicated to the thematic focus, with eminent speakers discussing challenges and strategic visions for "connecting communities" towards future seamless actions and research in Europe.

Note that for onsite participation, 2 September is the deadline for registration at standard rates. We look forward to welcome you online and in Bonn.
