2 postdoc positions in the field of climate change and malaria

Abdus Salam International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP), Trieste, Italy
Closing date: 15 June 2025

ICTP in Italy is looking to recruit two postdoctoral research assistants to work on an exciting new international, multi-institute, project that aims to account for climate variability, extremes and trends to better assess the impact of malaria interventions in Africa.

This is a chance to participate in a project that aims to have a real on-the-ground impact. One position will focus more on the climate, to improve our understanding of African monsoon variability, trends and extremes, while the other will be focused on the development and application of our climate-aware dynamical malaria model to achieve the project key goals.

ICTP will consider a wide range of backgrounds, including from either climate sciences or mathematical disease modelling or even new-comers to these fields. The positions require strong mathematical and coding competency (Fortran and/or python preferred!) and a collaborative spirit.

The starting date can be flexible, between September 2025 and January 2026, and the project and positions will last for 3 years, with an initial offer of 2 years, renewable for an additional year.
