UMFVG has elected Laura Palmisano as the new president

The Unione Meteorologica del Friuli Venezia Giulia (UMFVG) has elected a new board, with Laura Palmisano as the new president.

 

Laura Palmisano earned a Master Degree in Natural Sciences at the Università degli Studi di Trieste and has dedicated her career to the promotion and teaching of science. She has specialized in the development and organisation of interactive learning and research activities and has worked as teacher for several science museums and centers, such as the Science Centre Immaginario Scientifico, Grotta Gigante, Gruppo Pleiadi, Riserva Naturale Regionale della Foce dell’Isonzo, Unione Meteorologica del Friuli Venezia Giulia.

Currently, she teaches geography and leads the science laboratory at the Montessori School of Pagnacco (Udine). Her teaching combines science lectures with experimentation and practical activities that are meant to facilitate learning and stimulate curiosity through direct experience. Laura has worked with audiences and students of all ages, from kindergarten to secondary school and groups of adults. She has been a member of the Meteorological Union of Friuli Venezia Giulia since 2006. Prior to being elected President of the organisation in December 2016, she served as its Secretary and was a member of its board (2012-2016).
