SGM General Assembly 2011
Saskia Willemse elected as new president
At its recent General Assembly, the Swiss Society for Meteorology (SGM) elected Saskia Willemse of MeteoSwiss as its new president for the coming 4-year term. Saskia Willemse succeeds Markus Furger who led the SGM since 2008. At the same time Rolf Philipona, a former vice-president of the EMS, also retired from the Board. Michael Sprenger of ETHZ and Tobias Grimbacher of MeteoNews AG have been newly elected to the Board.
The annual meeting of the SGM took place on Saturday 12 Nov 2011 in Zürich. Apart from the General Assembly, a symposium on ‘Meteorology and Climatology’ within the Swiss Geoscience Meeting 2011 was organised. The Swiss Geoscience Meeting 2011 covered all fields of geosciences, from the solid earth to space, including the hydrosphere and the atmosphere.
