AME President: Ernesto Rodriguez Camino

At the last General Assembly of the Asociación Meteorologica Española (AME) Ernesto Rodriguez Camino was elected as the new president . He succeeds José A. Maldonado who led AME during two terms of 2-years (since 2007). The election for the presidency of AME is for a 2-year term and only two consecutive terms are allowed by the society's statutes. Ernesto had already been the AME president during the years 2003-2007.

Ernesto spent most of his professional career at the Spanish Met Office (AEMET) working mainly at the Research Department on atmospheric modelling. He was for many years involved in NWP developments; most recently he focused his activity on climate modelling.

Ernesto has also been actively involved in the organisation of the 7th EMS Annaul Meeting and 8th European Conference on Applications of Meteorology (ECAM) that took place in San Lorenzo de El Escorial, Spain, 1–5 October 2007.
