Mission
- To support excellence in young European scientists
- To support the participation in EMS sponsored conferences of outstanding students and young scientists
Activities
Currently the following types of awards are announced annually:
- EMS Silver Medal - to honour distinguished contributions to the development of meteorology in Europe.
- Young Scientist Award - to acknowledge excellence in young scientists.
- Young Scientist Travel Award - to support participation of outstanding students and young scientists at EMS-sponsored conferences (about 10-15 awards each year).
- Broadcast Meteorologist Award - to acknowledge life achievements of outstanding broadcast meteorologists.
- TV Weather Forecast Award - to acknowledge best practice in communication of meteorology.
- Outreach & Communication Award - to acknowledge new approaches to communicate the science of meteorology and related fields to the general public.
The Awards Committee is responsible for the announcement of the resepctive awards and the selection process. For the Media Awards in collaboration with the Media Team.
