Postdoc position in complex systems, convective self-organization and precipitation

Closing date: 15 March 2017
Niels Bohr Institute, University of Copenhagen, Denmark
The interdisciplinary Atmospheric Complexity team at the Niels Bohr Institute is seeking a creative postdoctoral researcher with a strong theoretical background. The team’s focus is on the physics of atmospheric self-organization on varying spatio-temporal scales, in particular on the interaction of the convective cloud field and the origin of extreme precipitation in a changing climate.

Postdoctoral Research Fellow position in physical oceanography

Closing date: 15 March 2017
University of Bergen, Norway
The postdoctoral research fellow position is connected to the OVENS project supported by Bergen Research Foundation. The overall objective of the project is to study the coupled ocean-atmosphere climate system in the Nordic Seas, a region that is of critical importance to the Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation but sensitive to climate change. The project team includes scientists from Bergen and a strong international network. The successful candidate will also interact with three PhD students that are engaged on the same topic.

09/03/2017
Research associate in polar remote sensing

Closing date: 09 March 2017
University of Bristol, UK
The primary aim of this project is to determine the factors influencing sea level rise, including glacio-isostatic adjustment, during the satellite era and eventually, for the 20th Century by combining a range of satellite and ground-based observations within a statistical inference model. This post requires a background in glaciology and remote sensing.

Lecturer/Senior Lecturer

Closing date: 05 March 2017
University of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia
The university seeks outstanding candidates working in atmospheric dynamics (broadly defined) including the study of atmospheric phenomena on a variety of length scales of relevance to weather, present or past climate, the atmospheric general circulation, or boundary-layer interactions with the oceans or land surfaces.

W3 professorship in theoretical meteorology

Closing date: 02 March 2017
Universität Hamburg, Germany
The new professor is expected to make a strong contribution to the meteorological activities at the University of Hamburg. She or he will comprehensively represent the field of atmospheric dynamics in meteorological research and education. Applicants that link to the strong climate research community in Hamburg are particularly welcome.

Research Scientist position in atmospheric research

Closing date: 28 February 2017
Finnish Meteorological Institute, Kuopio, Finland
The group of Atmospheric Measurements hosts two measurement stations in Kuopio and is active in participating in international campaigns. FMI is operating a PollyXT Raman lidar, Halo Doppler lidars and Vaisala ceilometers, in addition to numerous in-situ aerosol instruments. The tasks of the successful candidate will include: evaluation of the lidar, ceilometer, and supporting data, maintenance of the lidar and in-situ instruments, preparing analysis tools and scientific publications. The tasks will also include measurements and instrument maintenance at the campaign sites outside of Finland.
